This month’s Book Activity packs

Children of the Benin Kingdom by Dinah Orji – activity pack and resources – 89 files in total. A perfect book to read alongside a The Benin Kingdom Topic, for which we have a brilliant Topic Overview Pack on the site.

Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura – activity pack and resources – 36 files in total. This fits really well when teaching the Ancient Britons – see our Topic Overview pack.

The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis – activity pack and resources – 95 files in total. A powerful novel about life in Afghanistan under the Taliban.

MATHS

Mental Maths – Weekly test packs for Spring 1 are available. These match English National Curriculum objectives and our Mental Maths Programme. Each pack has a summary of the objectives tested each week, so can be used even if you don’t follow our Programme. You might just need to change the order in which you use them.

MORNING WORK

We have uploaded the packs for January and February 2025.

What is Morning Work?

You might call it something else, but essentially it is an activity or series of activities that your class do when they enter the classroom in the morning.

Every day there are different Maths and English activities matched to each year groups’ National Curriculum objectives:

Monday – Maths Mania

Tuesday – Take 3 – short writing

Wednesday – WOW words – vocabulary

Thursday – Teaser – short Maths challenges which differ each week

Friday – Flashback – revisit Maths and English from the Autumn Term.

All slides are dated, so all you have to do is display them and your class is set for a great start to the day.
