Quizzes are great for retrieval practice because they are short, sharp and easy to administer. A quiz asks children to recall information previously learnt without reference to books or notes. Quite simply – what can they recall?
To be most effective, retrieval practice needs to be carried out regularly. Using quizzes alongside other retrieval practice methods demonstrates which knowledge has been retained by the children. A quiz is a very versatile tool and can be used at the start of a new topic, during or at the end or a combination of these options.
How do we at KS2Gems help with this?
We have a great range of GPS quizzes for each year group, which match the NC objectives taught in that year group. Each quiz contains just 10 questions – short and snappy! They are great to use with our Teaching PowerPoints. Also a fantastic for Y6 SATs preparation.
