Topic Overviews are very popular with our subscribers; using them saves hours of trawling the Internet and gives teachers more time to plan exciting learning to meet the needs of their class. But what do you get that saves all this time?
Three pages of suggestions and ideas that you can select from to plan your unique topic to fulfil your school’s long-term plan, meet the National Curriculum objectives and inspire your pupils. In addition, a bank of Questions to Investigate is provided for enquiry-based learning – simply select relevant questions for your topic sessions. Key vocabulary is included too!

Hook Ideas and Visits are featured as most schools launch their topics in this way. Ideas presented are current but it is advised that the providers’ websites are checked for details.
Website links: a range of great websites that can support subject knowledge but also provide free resources. There are many websites available but we have selected those which offer high quality information. Web site links were valid at the time of the production of the Topic Overview but should be checked.
Prominent People/ Key Events: Information to help with subject knowledge is also provided.

Writing Opportunities: a range of ideas for writing are presented; select those which fit your English requirements.
Speaking & Listening: ways to include these vital skills are suggested and linked to other curriculum areas.
Poetry: Some poems which are related to the topic are suggested.
