Handwriting

We are very excited to launch our Handwriting resources. The Writing Framework, Section 3, published in July 2025 states that the focus of Handwriting teaching should be on ‘increasing the legibility, consistency and quality of pupils’ handwriting’.
At the start of KS2, most children will meet the National Curriculum requirements for Handwriting, but some will not and will need support to achieve them in Y3. KS2Gems resources provide opportunities for children to focus on the aspects that they are finding tricky. The first tranche of resources is as follows:
- capital letters
- horizontal joins
- diagonal joins to ascenders
- common pairs which use diagonal joins
Further resources will be added for the next academic year.

Mental Maths Ladders

The Summer Term packs for each year group are available now. These are a fantastic way to rehearse key mental maths skills. Great as a starter activity.
GPS Let’s talk Spelling

We continue to add to our most recent GPS resource – Let’s Talk. These discussion prompts are perfect for rapid assessment of children’s understanding of key ideas and rules in spelling. For Spelling there is a PowerPoint for each year group.
Morning Work

June’s morning work for each year group is now available. The perfect way to start the day; different Maths and English activities every day to match each year group’s National Curriculum objectives. Each PowerPoint slide is dated, so all you have to do is display it and provide the children with something to write on – it couldn’t be simpler!
